Kalmar has announced a range of high capacity lithium ion battery powered fork trucks.
The company is now offering lithium power on its ‘medium’ rage of forklifts, with a maximum lift height of five metres, and capacities from nine to 18 tonnes. The development is the latest step in its aim to have electric versions of every product in its portfolio by 2021. Kalmar has already launched electric powered versions of its empty container handlers, shuttle and straddle carriers and yard cranes. It is claimed that a full charge can be achieved on the new machines in less than two hours, while the battery technology allows opportunity charging, making them suitable for multi shift operation.
Vice president forklifts Stefan Hultqvist said: “We're delighted to be able to announce yet another industry first as we continue our drive to provide customers with innovative new eco-efficient, reliable and easy to maintain machines to help them achieve their business goals. Demand for electrically powered forklifts is rising all the time, and now we can offer our customers even greater convenience and environmental performance in the medium lifting capacity range.”
