Senior sales appointments for Genie N.America

Genie has appointed Joshua Meyer as vice president of North American sales and promoted Doug Evans and Rick Penkert to regional vice presidents.
Meyer joins the company from aggregate and mining materials company Metso, where he has been senior vice president for Africa, the Middle East and Turkey, since joining the business from Caterpillar in 2017.

Meyer began his career in 1996 as a staff accountant with Norwest Bank, in the Minneapolis area, quickly switching to a marketing role, with packaging solutions company Delcor, leaving to join Cat as a marketing specialist in mid 1998. Over the next 20 years he held a number of increasingly senior jobs, covering South America, including more than two years based in Brazil. In 2005 he moved to company headquarters in Peoria as a product and marketing manager, moving to France in 2009 as a regional commercial director. In late 2012 he returned to the USA as commercial director for the mining division covering South America. In his new role with Genie he is responsible for developing short and long term sales and business growth strategies, while managing the company’s North American sales teams - both regional and national account — in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America.

Speaking of his new position he said: “I am pleased to join the Genie team in a role that focuses on our customers’ needs, and to working closely with them to enhance our added value and to drive their business growth. As we continue to develop and offer products, services and programmes designed to meet customers’ needs, I will be working to strategically grow and position our sales team in North America to communicate and deliver that value to the industry.”
Among his first decisions in the new job was the promotion of Doug Evans to regional vice president for the Northeast region, taking over from Adrian Max who is retiring. Evans joined Genie 21 years ago as regional sales manager covering Manitoba, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa and Missouri, having previously worked as a sale sales representative for Gradall covering the Midwest.

“Doug’s industry knowledge, strong analytical skills, and deep customer relationships will serve him well as he assumes his new responsibilities,” said Meyer.
At the same time Rick Penkert has been promoted to regional vice president for the Western Region, taking over from Bob Bradshaw who is also retiring. He joined Genie from United Rentals in 2013 as a national account executive in the Western with responsibility for accounts in New Mexico, Arizona and southern California. More recently, he has been responsible for managing the United Rentals account at a national level. He came into United when it acquired Horizon High Reach & Equipment, where he had been general manager, since being promoted from regional manager in 1999.

“Rick’s leadership skills, coupled with his knowledge of our products and our customers across the Western Region will ensure he is able to quickly transition into his new position,” said Meyer.

“Both Bob and Adrian became synonymous with Genie in the West and Northeast. They will be greatly missed by both customers and the Genie team alike. We thank them for their years of hard work and dedicated service and wish them well in their retirements. As Doug and Rick take the reins from Bob and Adrian, they are well positioned to help Genie continue to meet the needs of the North American rental industry and the aerial market” added Meyer.
