Whiteman to head chamber of commerce
Tim Whiteman, managing director of IPAF, the International Powered Access Federation, has been appointed chairman of the Basel Chapter of the British-Swiss Chamber of Commerce (BSCC).
He takes over on 1 January 2009 from Stephan Erbe, of the Basel law firm Fromer, Schultheiss & Staehelin, who has led the chapter for the past three years.
Whiteman said:” I look forward to this new challenge and urge all companies based in the Basel area that do business with the UK to contact us and find out how the BSCC can help them.”
“IPAF has found a hospitable and welcoming second home in Switzerland and I delighted to be able to play a part in encouraging trade and commerce between the UK and Switzerland”.
The BSCC, was founded in Basel in 1920, and is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that promotes business relations between Switzerland, Liechtenstein and the United Kingdom.
The BSCC’s Basel Chapter represents its members in both Basel-Stadt and Basel-Landschaft, as well as those in the nearby regions of north-western Switzerland.
The appointment is a voluntary position and does not affect his position as Managing Director of the International Powered Access Federation.
